The Final Fantasy Series

Final Fantasy NES

When developer, Square, came up with the original Final Fantasy 1 video game in 1987 for Japan, they had no idea they created the beginnings of what many gamers believe to be the ultimate RPG series ever created.

The original was released in 1990 for the Unites States. Final Fantasy II (which was actually the fourth game in the series) was in the United States in 1991.

Never had an role playing game had been so engaging. The different kinds of customizations and gameplay techniques seemed. The Final Fantasy games were the kind of games that stole chunks of hours in a day without the player even noticing. Needless to say, just about every RPG that has come out since Final Fantasy owes a great debt to the original landmark games of the NES.
