The Dragon Warrior series for the NES consisted of the first 4 versions of the franchise. When the original came out in 1986, it was innovative in that it was the first Role Playing Game to use a top-down viewpoint. Something that became extremely common in gaming after the original Dragon Warrior came out.

The series has always sparked emotion form the legions of role playing game fans who either love it or hate it. Some people love how simple and easy the game is to pick up, while others critcized it for not giving the characters more depth.
